Osteopathy for children

Children are constantly growing and developing, and this process is sometimes accompanied by various physical complaints. The pressure to perform at school, sports, and other activities can also affect their health. It is not uncommon for children to encounter problems such as postural abnormalities, injuries due to falls or bumps during play, or tension and stress.

In addition, children may also experience less clear and persistent complaints. These may be complaints such as stomach ache, headache, sleeping problems or behavioral changes. These complaints can arise from disturbances in the functioning of their organs, hormonal changes, or previous trauma.

What does osteopathy do for children?

Osteopathy can help treat various complaints in children. If the cause of the complaints is not addressed, they may persist or return over time. This applies to both clear musculoskeletal complaints and more unexplained, persistent complaints.

At Doortast Osteopathie Leiden I can help your child. To make an appointment I can be reached on 06-38303629. You can also email osteopathie@doortast.nl.

How do I proceed?

When you make an appointment for your child, the first session always starts with an intake interview. I ask many questions to get a good idea of the complaints and possible causes. This is followed by a physical examination in which I examine your child’s entire body and check all joints and structures for mobility. I always work with my hands.

I then often start the treatment straight away. The joints or structures that are stuck are loosened using mobilization techniques or gentle manipulations, adapted to the specific needs of children. Techniques on the abdomen, skull or other parts of the body can also be applied.

I also provide advice on how your child can best deal with the complaints and what you can do to prevent the complaints from coming back. My goal is to contribute to the healthy development and well-being of your child.
